Houdini magician costume12/30/2023 Otherwise, they have only the most minimal signs of edge stress and very minor signs of handling or age. The photographs are in Very Good to Very Good+ condition, with a very slight curve to them. A few of the photos show Curtis making a funny face or striking an amusing pose, which just adds to their rarity. Curtis in various costumes used in the movie, including a bathrobe, a swimsuit, a large overcoat, a few suits, pajamas (holding two bowling pins with a cigarette dangling from his mouth), in a dress shirt and pants (with a cigarette in his hand), in a suit and leaning on a pair of crutches, and 2 shots of him in a stagehand costume (overalls, hat, etc.). She worked on over 450 films in her 50+ year career, winning 8 Academy Awards (Oscars) for Best Costume Design! She was the most famous and respected costume designer of her day! It is certain that these photographs were taken to test the costumes and props and, even if she did not take them herself, she was at the very least present while they were taken. Edith Head (1897-1980) was a legendary Hollywood costume designer. We will be auctioning off other wardrobe photos from this film in lots, including a large lot of Janet Leigh costume test shots, and a few lots of circus or carnival characters. The movie starred Tony Curtis as the great illusionist/ magician Harry Houdini and Janet Leigh as Bess Houdini. "Houdini" was a 1953 Paramount film directed by George Marshall.
